Would there by any interest in doing something like this? There's a couple of Malkmus solo albums that I haven't heard yet, and I think it might be fun to put a deceptively simple indie pop band like Pavement under the microscope.

I'd definitely read along, and would check things out and comment along the way, but my Pavement/Malkmus knowledge is too cursory for me to participate properly. I sort of burnt out near the end of the Tom Waits one anyway--I think chud is right that it kind of turned the albums into work.

What flaws do you find in Brighten the Corners, Zurich stainer?
this is in no way my official LAL position, but i always found that Brighten the Corners to be front-loaded with the album's best material. i always had trouble adjusting to the relatively languid back-end of the album after the poppy punches of stereo, shady lane, and date with ikea. will a LAL change my tune?
