Got to see the Lee Ranaldo Band last night. They were great, although the crowd wasn't completely into it for some reason. I guess Sunday night shows aren't ideal.
I snagged a spot first row just to the right of Ranaldo, watching him play guitar from such a close vantage point was wonderful. And that's not to forget Steve Shelley, he is an excellent drummer and plays off Ranaldo extremely well.

He broke a string halfway through a song and continued to play while retuning the remaining five strings. He can be my rhythm guitar player any day of the week.

i couldnt care less about USA economical crisis but hell this is good!
Jeff Mangum, Sonic Youth’s Lee Ranaldo, and Fugazi’s Guy Picciotto will perform at an upcoming Occupy Wall Street charity event. Other performers include Janeane Garofalo, TV On The Radio’s Tunde Adebimpe, and Daily Show co-creator Lizz Winstead. The event—which will also stream as a web-based telethon—takes place Nov. 15 at New York’s Le Poisson Rouge, and aims to raise $50,000 for Strike Debt, an OWS fringe organization that purchases debt for the purpose of eliminating it. As the group’s website says, “We buy debt for pennies on the dollar, but instead of collecting it, we abolish it. We cannot buy specific individual's debt—instead, we help liberate debtors at random through a campaign of mutual support, goodwill, and collective refusal." According to materials associated with Strike Debt, a $250 donation eliminates an estimated $5,000 worth of debt

When Steve's drums come thundering in on Death Valley '69 from Smart Bar: Chicago 1985, I swear I can almost feel myself being flung against the wall of that club from their sheer force.

I never noticed this before, but towards the end of Jams Run Free, the band briefly settles into a drum and bass groove that's very similar to Washing Machine.
i need to listen to that one more often...its a special one for me because that´s the tour i first saw them, but at the time i wasnt too interested on it because i would listen to dirty all fuckin day.
