I'm not familiar with Austin, but it's at a huge park isn't it? I've never had issues seeing other bands when they are playing at places like that.

Oh, nevermind then. I saw Spoon and Echo and the Bunnymen I think at SXSW in 2006? at auditorium shores and there were probably 10,000+ people there. And there was probably room for another 15,000 more. That's my guess, anyway.

I always find myself listening to this band on drives, airplane flights and when I am stuck at work. I try to focus in on my surroundings and it ads to the band's music so much.

I've never been but I'll have to go this year, I'll probably just take the bus though since parking will be such a bitch.

Any recommendations on bands to see? I planned on the Auditorium Shores shows, as well as the Mess with Texas shows.

Went to the free show, was pretty cool except I wish they had been about three times as loud. Awesome fireworks display at the end too. :D

I was listening to some of Sonic Youth's SYR releases a few days ago, and I couldn't help but think about how much Explosions in the Sky owes to that band. I'm happy that I don't have to choose between one or the other. It's so nice that we have more than enough of this kind of stuff to go around, isn't it?

Maybe I should check out these SYR releases you speak of. Where should I start?

1 or 2 is probably the most accessible place to start if you are an Explosions in the Sky fan. One of my all-time favorite Sonic Youth songs, Tremens, can be found on SYR 1.
