Taken from their myspace bulletin:
"Dear Team Cooper
It is with a sad and heavy heart that I must announce that The Cooper Temple Clause have decided to split up.
Last week I informed the rest of the boys that I would be leaving the band. As I hope you will all be able to understand, it was perhaps the most difficult decision I have ever had to make. When the only life you have ever known is that of your five best friends and the music you make, the thought of leaving that life is not one to be considered lightly and I assure you all that the decision was not an easy one to make. Nonetheless, it was something I felt I had to do. I can only apologise from the bottom of my heart for the disappointment this will undoubtedly cause many of you.
In the wake of this decision the rest of the boys agreed to call it a day and pursue other interests. Friendships are well and truly intact and the love very much remains within the camp.
We would like to take this moment to thank all of you for your support over the years and the love and acceptance you have shown us. It has been an honour to be your servants, for that is what we have been. A band is nothing without its fans, without the people who come to the shows, buy the albums and make us feel that we're not alone in the world, that there are other people out there who see the world as we do in all its wonder and absurdity. People can say what they like about The Cooper Temple Clause, but the unswerving loyalty and dedication of you guys, the ones who really matter, can never be called into question. From the very beginning you have shone brighter than we could have ever hoped, from the street teams to the forum administrators, from those of you who saw us in the Bull and Gate to those who made the earth shake at Fuji Rock on the other side of the world; we thank you all, each and every one of you. When we stood as children in front of our mirrors brandishing tennis rackets and singing into upturned golf clubs, never did we imagine the fantastic adventure we would embark upon thanks to you, the greatest fans in the world. We can only hope that we touched your hearts as much as you have ours.
Take heart and carry on, dear Team. Never be afraid to be yourselves, to be individuals, to fly in the face of common sense and listen to your hearts, to do it your own way. We made a bunch of albums. We played a bunch of shows. We met a bunch of people who changed our lives forever.
We love you all.
Thank you so much.
Yours, in absence of a cheesy line from one of our own songs to end this post,

I'm mad! First they make me fall in love with their music and I manage to see them twice. Then they make me wait YEARS because they don't play overseas (The Netherlands). So, recently I found out they played a concert in Amsterdam _that I did not know about_ even though I'm on mailing list and all...
And now that missed show turns out to have been my last chance
groetjes,
Mirella (<-still smiling, but not because of TCTC)

and I'm sad about it, too. Great band for their First album only already.

the first 2 albums are excellent, top stuff
some kickass music mixed with some elements
they have some pretty good bsides and eps too
its one of my fav bands i guess, because they make me feel so damn good
the newest one was good, but a change in the direction, a more mainstream approach
(BUT it has some of their best songs ever: Head is fuckin sick, House of Cards is beautiful...etc.)
i believe that this may be one of the reasons
first the bassist left to join Dirty Pretty Things, and now this
something changed in the Clause
rest in peace, kickass band

Didz reacts to Cooper Temple Clause split
Dirty Pretty Thing tells NME.COM it's sad to see his old band go
9 hours ago
Ex-Cooper Temple Clause star Didz Hammond (pictured with current band Dirty Pretty Things on the left) has spoken to NME.COM about the demise of his old band.
Hammond was in the group from its inception until 2005, when he joined Dirty Pretty Things play bass.
As previously reported, his old band confirmed their split today (April 25), and the bassist told NME.COM he was upset about the end.
"It's a very sad day really," he said. "I do think, with a band trying to be sonically ambitious like the Coopers were, it's sad when they stop."
However he was confident the group's legacy would continue.
"For a young band to be putting a lot of electro elements into their songs, and being ambitious in that way, we kind of inspired quite a lot of bands as to what was possible," Hammond said.
"There wouldn't be a lot of bands that are doing similar stuff now if we hadn't done that as a young band I don't think," he added. "I'm a bit gutted about it, but I just think it's more of a time for celebration. There's a lot of good bands around now that have taken up the gauntlet that we had initially anyway, so all is not lost, bands come and go, and hopefully some of them, like the Coopers, will inspire a lot of people and hopefully change peoples' lives. So you know, I'm proud to have been a part of it."
Hammond, who has remained friends with his former bandmates, said he expected them to continue to make an impact despite the group splitting.
"I heard the news on Monday (April 23), and then I just spoke to Keiran (Mahon) just now, I haven't spoken to any of the other boys, but I think the general mood is now, to get onto the next thing. I know Tom (Bellamy) wants to do a lot with music, I think Jon (Harper)'s gonna carry on drumming, maybe in America, (Daniel) Fischer is going to some writing - it seems everyone's got something to do."
The Cooper Temple Clause released three albums, starting with their 2002 debut 'See This Through And Leave', and were initially noted for blending rock influences like Oasis with more dance-infused sounds that referenced the likes of Portishead.
i listened to the 3 albums , 2 eps, and all the bsides of the newest album (close to 1h of stuff)
hopefully Bean Gautrey will start a band now, i cant live without his voice [+emo]

one of the best new bands from this century. What you get when you grow up with Grunge and Britpop and start making eclectic music with beeps and lust for life .
Just listen...

Saw them play a tiny, tiny venue to a hundred people or so in Aberdeen many years ago. Very good band, fantastic light show, really enjoyable show. Too bad they decided to hang it up

Yip, The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen. Nice wee venue. Saw Biffy Clyro, and Hell is for Heroes there too

I wish the North Sea was dry, or had a bridge. I'd go to many more concerts on that side then...
