At the moment one of my favorite records, every song is just ace. The whole album kind of builds atmosphere and paranoia, lyrics are totally ridiculous/funny yet spooky and even frightening. Byrne is a great songwriter, often imitated and never duplicated. He covers so much ground here and gets to the point EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Their sound is so completely unique. I love this band. Someday I will remember listening to this music with my friends and recalling the best times of my life.

Talking Heads are one of those rare, unfuckwithable bands

This is a really great album, from one of my top three bands. Remain in Light gets a lot of credit, and I'm not saying I don't agree with that, but Fear of Music is probably my favorite album. There isn't a single throwaway track anywhere on their first five albums though. Really great.

I only have 'Stop Making Sense'. The only reason I mentioned that is because it's in my top 5 albums. I love it so much. I should investigate further... The best kind of music to me is meaningful lyrics hidden under fun unusual pop type songs.

Stop Making Sense is a good album, but the movie is really amazing. I'd recommend watching the DVD of Talking Heads' Stop Making Sense to anyone getting into the band. It's one of my favorite movies of all time, music-related or not. My favorite song on Fear of Music: Electric Guitar, but that may be more the mood I'm in than anything else.

I've attached a significance to the lyrics for Mind that is so far out that I really think I'm the only person who could feel this way about it. I won't go into it since it has to do with something very personal for me, but suffice to say: cool song.

One year in high school, I copied down the lyrics to Mind, and tried to use as many of the things he mentions as I could, to try to change someone's mind about something which is very unchangeable. I'm still trying, in fact.
Animals think They're pretty smart Shit on the ground See in the dark
This album I adored for the first 4 years I owned it, and in the last 5 I don't think I've listened to it more than once a year. Still think it's great, I just never really want to listen to it.
One needs the Stop Making Sense DVD, if only for the Byrne interviews Byrne segment.
