So is Soup BM's best CD? Nico isnt bad, but I dont know much about the band because they are a little before my time. I did see them in concert when I was 10 but thats about as far as I got with them.

I just got a copy of Soup yesterday and have listened to it only once. I can't say for sure yet if it's better than their S/T album, but it's pretty damn good.

The self titled debut is terrific (although I can't listen to No Rain anymore), Soup got too out there since Shannon Hoon was dropping 8-balls into his cheerios by that time.
Nico is just the cleanup. One or two intersting things but not the first BM album you should get by far.

The first album is great. Solid up and down.
Soup is in my opinion a superior album to the first one. It is more complex, infinitely deeper, and just much more mature a piece. Shannon's addiction problems are quite evident in many songs, and in retrospect it seems like his death was inevitable. But for two months in the late summer/early fall of 1995, it just felt like a band that was really growing into something amazing.
Nico is a nice collection of scraps. Enough of the songs are really excellent to make it required for you collection, but it not a finished piece like the other two.

i dont have a fav of the 2 i think they are both quite good, but i probably listen to their first album more because it brings back memories
Definitely. Don't expect a rounded album as such, but there are at least a half dozen songs that are equally as good as anything on the first two albums.

yes they should. and dont listen to what anybody says. Nico is a great album, but its not a complete studio album. there are a few rough songs, but they were still beautiful and such deserved to be released (all that i need, and letters to a porcupine come to mind)

i've always found soup to be inconsistent. i like every other song on that album. the odd numbers are great, the evens do nothing for me. a very polarizing album for me.
man, is galaxy an amazing song.
