I need a new turntable...

But until then, I'm spinning Tom Waits tonight. Did Swordfishtrombones followed by Rain Dogs, and now I'm finishing Blood Money. Not sure if I'll do Real Gone or Mule Variations next.

a 40 watt receiver made back in the day packs a lot more punch than a 40 watt receiver made today.

Sounds like he's IN THE FUCKING ROOM with you. One of my favorite albums to listen to on vinyl. One of my favorite albums to listen to, period.

Question:

My turntable has a phono pre-amp. My current receiver does not have a phono input so i am running the RCA cables into the aux jack.

Am i losing audio quality (other than the fact i have a shitty receiver)? Do I need to get a receiver with a phono input or is that pointless since my table has a phono pre amp?

Phono input on your receiver is only important if you don't have a pre amp on your turntable.

Thanks guy!

I should still get a new receiver though. I agree.

I'll be digging out my 1970s Montgomery Wards "Airline" receiver in the next couple of days. Last time I checked, it still works and sounds great. I'll clean it up and post a pic.
