Argo, how would you feel if you logged "SWBO 101" into the discogs.com database only to find out that that catalog number went through decades of nonstop pressings, often maintaining similar identifiers?

That sounds like good news to me

But how can you ever be sure that the version that you logged in is the correct one?

I don't think I'd care.

I would. I guess I just though you'd empathize. I shouldn't have summoned you for nothing. I'm sorry.

Reid, have you been rating the quality of your entries?

That's the next project. I asked for plastic sleeve covers for Christmas, so when those go on, the condition gets logged in.

I still haven't cataloged some of my dad's old Stones records because I haven't found editions that match on Discogs. The catalog number matches one edition but the label matches another. What to do, what to do...

I'm sorry, I was just trying to fight my new reputation around here for being anal or autistic or something. I'm sure that if I understood what you were talking about, the situation you describe would trouble me deeply.

Don't ever try to fight who you are, Asher. If we can't be ourselves on Red mosquito, where can we?

That moment when you get an eBay e-mail alert for a saved search and you notice that the Buy It Now price is ridiculously low and you click through all the links with shaky fingers and when you get to the page you see that it's already been bought:

You'll snag that copy of On The Beach someday, Balliro.

Seeing something like that makes me grateful that I still have a lot of commonly available Molina stuff to hear.

A lot. The only albums that I'm familiar with are Songs: Ohia, Didn't It Rain, Ghost Tropic, and Josephine, plus the song "Farewell Transmission." I put Pyramid Electric Co. on my Christmas list, though.

Hearing Molina generally requires me to order online, but I hardly ever shop online. I seldom see his stuff in used vinyl or even used CD sections, and if I'm going to pay $16.99 for a new CD in the store, I might as well just order an LP from Secretly Canadian.

P.E.C. is great, and it sounds great on vinyl. Very deep and warm, which contrasts with the coldness of his other solo record, "Let Me Go Let Me Go Let Me Go."

Yeah, his albums are very hard to find on vinyl in stores. Sometimes, I see ones I already have and consider buying them again just because. I flip by a copy of "Ghost Tropic" at a local store all the time and think, "Hmm....should I?" I know it's the devil, but you can get some of the records for good prices on Amazon.

I actually found my copy of Ghost Tropic at a record store for $8.99. I'll never forget how bummed the clerk was when I brought it up to the counter. Apparently he'd been eyeing it all day, but had to wait until his shift was over to purchase it.
