Why didn't he just stash it behind the counter?

Because he's better than that.

I am not better than this. When I used to frequent lots of used book stores in Boston, I would hide books behind shelves and in shitty sections of the store if I didn't have cash and wanted to get them the next time I came in. Definitely used to hoard things behind the counter when I worked in the supermarket in Brookline as well.

Record stores aren't a public trust, friend. There's nothing wrong with an employee stashing an item so he can buy it after his shift.

Oh, I have no doubt that some amount of hoarding occurs with both the customers and the employees at Cactus, but luckily this fellow Molina fan isn't part of that reality.

I'm happy you got the record. I'm just saying it wouldn't have been wrong for the employee to make the purchase himself before anyone else even had a chance.

There are maybe five titles in my collection that I'm not 100% sure about, but this is much is certain: they aren't rare pressings. Since I know that, and I know that I never intend to sell them, I'm okay with maybe not having the exact copy listed. These records are The White Album, Blood on the Tracks, Pure Prairie League Bustin' Out, Deja Vu, and The Second.

I had similar issues with The White Album, Deja Vu, Hot Rocks, and The Who By Numbers. I assume there were just so many pressings of records like those Back In The Day that it will take years to track them all down.

Ah, let's add Who By Numbers to my list. And yeah, you're right.

Speaking of The Who, I found out that I'm missing one sole insert in my copy of Live at Leeds. :x

I just finished cataloguing aswell, what a mission, took me about 16 hours all up I reckon

My girl doesn't appreciate all the hard work, It's really satisfying getting it done, and a bit scary seeing the value.

You guys have been busy with the Discog'ing. I need to continue with the rest of my collection.
Be careful not to under-value your collection. If you have a rare record it won't have enough sales to create min/max dollar values and therefore won't be included in your stats. A prime example is the Benaroya box which does not have a designated value on discogs.

God damnit. You know what woulda been fun? Vinyl Thread Secert Santa. $30 limit. Everybody submits either their Discogs collection or a spreadsheet to avoid things you have, plus a list of Bands You Hate. This coulda been great. Too close to Christmas now though, right? Wanna do this for Valentine's Day or something? (lol)

I'd be down with doing this for Valentine's Day.

Is it a bit gay for a bunch of vinyl-hoarding Pearl Jam nerds to send eachother records for Valentine's?
If not, then I'm in!

I'm seriously thinking about becoming a vinyl collector just so I can share in this thread's heartwarming sense of community.
