My sister has a respectable Jazz collection, and some of his stuff is still unmatchable. Call it corny, but "What a Wonderful World" is one of the few songs that get me genuinely emotional. The man was a spectacular talent.

He was a genius. I can't help thinking that we really lost something when he died.

louis only uses 8 bars for his solo in west end blues and it is probably one of the top 5 solos in all of jazz. just absolutely amazing.

My jazz teacher in college called him the greatest singer the world had ever seen based on his enunciation and the growl in his voice.
If a chord progression and melody are worthwhile, they'll work in any style. Joey Ramone's punk rock cover of What A Wonderful World is really cool, even if the original is better.

Joey's version is sweet as hell. I don't even know how I got it but I'm damn glad I have it.
