I figured it's unlikely that there are a whole lot of Yann fans in this audience, but I figured I'd put him out there because he's easily my favorite musician/composer alive today... and just a flat-out genius. If you've seen Amelie, Goodbye Lenin or Tabarly, that music is his. He's so multifaceted that it's hard to believe the same guy does the same stuff. He does his own violin, piano, guitar and accordion.

For those who've heard his stuff, feel free to discuss his unheralded ridiculousness. For those who haven't, here are a few Youtube vids for your listening pleasure. I'll try to capture his full range.

The amelie soundtrack is great. That is all I know on this subject.

I've only seen him live once and it was around 1997 but it was fucking great. Like, really fucking great.

get the amelie soundtrack first. after that, rue des cascades, tabarly and les retrouvailles. the goodbye lenin soundtrack is pretty awesome too, although its more minimalist and doesn't show off his full range because he's just on piano pretty much
