One of my favorite vocalists of all time. He's also an overlooked songwriter.

I don't think I've ever heard anyone here mention Traffic, but I've always thought they were one of the best bands from the late 60s/early 70s. He was also in Blind Faith with Eric Clapton and Ginger Baker, and before all of this, he co-wrote on of the greatest rock songs ever - Gimme Some' Lovin.

People tend to identify Winwood with his 80s solo albums, which I enjoy a lot of, but I can see where people write the guy off as a cheeseball.

I agree, amazing vocalist. I went through a heavy duty Traffic phase, and as much as I love "Gimme Some Lovin," I think 'Dear Mr. Fantasy" is the best song he ever wrote.

His stuff with Traffic is very good. I also like his cheesy 80's songs. "Valerie" being one of them

It used to seem to me
That my life ran on too fast
And I had to take it slowly
Just to make the good parts last
But when youre born to run
Its so hard to just slow down
So dont be surprised to see me
Back in that bright part of town
Ill be back in the high life again
All the doors I closed one time will open up again
Ill be back in the high life again
All the eyes that watched me once will smile and take me in
And Ill drink and dance with one hand free
Let the world back into me
And on Ill be a sight to see
Back in the high life again

These lyrics are brilliant. One of these days I'm gonna be living that high life.

This was my first time seeing him and he absolutely blew me away, especially on guitar. Holy smokes he can play the guitar!

Eh, not really. And I'm saying that from an objective standpoint for once.
