I don't know. I would think The Who might have something to do with it because Paul wanted to make something heavier than the Who because they were huge at the time.

C'mon zeb. Blue Cheer, Jeff Beck Group, Vanilla Fudge, etc were all around long before Helter Skelter, and they already doing heavier stuff.

zeb, are you thinking of the second JBG, which moved more towards jazz fusion? Because the first one basically set the mold for Led Zep and the like.
