perfect song, i love this song so much that i can´t describe, so i´ll just say ..........
Before you slip into unconsciousness
I'd like to have another kiss
Another flashing chance at bliss
Another kiss, another kiss
The days are bright and filled with pain
Enclose me in your gentle rain
The time you ran was too insane
We'll meet again, we'll meet again
Oh tell me where your freedom lies
The streets are fields that never die
Deliver me from reasons why
You'd rather cry, I'd rather fly
The crystal ship is being filled
A thousand girls, a thousand thrills
A million ways to spend your time
When we get back, I'll drop a line
we miss you jimbo
(roby krieger once said that the line "a thousand thrills" was originally " a thousand pills")

My favorite Doors song is "The Celebration of the Lizard", too bad that they couldnt record it complete and only be able to record the fragment called "Not to Touch the Earth", there are a few live perfomances where they played the whole master piece complete, its a super-song.

the intro of the "Soft Parade", y'know..."Petition The Lord With Prayer" is part of the celebration of the lizard, right?
Yeah, it is.
If you have the "Absolutely Live" album they have the whole thing on there (spliced from different concert performances) It's pretty cool.

On the subject of the Doors, one of my favorite musical and lyrical passages of all time is the middle break down part in the song "thSoft Parade" ...
"The monk bought lunch
Ha ha, he bought a little
Yes, he did
Woo!
This is the best part of the trip
This is the trip, the best part
I really like
What'd he say?
Yeah!
Yeah, right!
Pretty good, huh
Huh!
Yeah, I'm proud to be a part of this number
Successful hills are here to stay
Everything must be this way
Gentle streets where people play
Welcome to the Soft Parade
All our lives we sweat and save
Building for a shallow grave
Must be something else we say
Somehow to defend this place
Everything must be this way
Everything must be this way, yeah
The Soft Parade has now begun
Listen to the engines hum
People out to have some fun
A cobra on my left
Leopard on my right, yeah"
Wow, the groove the band lays down while Jim is spewing this wonderful rant ... classic!

If you want to hear a kick ass version (IMO) of "The Celebration of the Lizard" listen to the version from the box set. It's on the disc, "Live in NYC." Version gives me chills everytime I hear it. This disc also has a great version of "The End."
