At first, it's easy to mistake the White Rabbits for just another set of New York City dance-rock hipsters in the Clap Your Hands Say Yeah tradition, but a second look reveals a quirkier and more rewarding aesthetic. A sextet featuring two drummers and a piano player, the White Rabbits refer to their music as "honky tonk calypso," and their cheerful blend of calypso, reggae and ska rhythms, plus secondhand music hall influences and big pop hooks, strongly recalls vintage Madness circa "Our House" and the moodier, more experimental side of the Specials and Fun Boy Three, via Ted Leo & the Pharmacists.

91 The Onion (A.V. Club) Rarely has the Inferno sounded this inviting.
90 All Music Guide As lyrically eclectic and clever as it is musically, this is one fascinating album.
81 Pitchfork It's a great debut for a band with an impressive, distinctive sound.
80 Village Voice Nearly embarrassing levels of enthusiasm, sincerity, and energy inform Fort Nightly, the band's surprisingly meaty debut.
70 PopMatters The White Rabbits’ Fort Nightly hijacks the ear and never lets go as it saunters, bursts and recoils with a fusion of ska, tango tweaked guitar riffs and shouts edging toward desperation.

White Rabbits have a new album coming out, produced by Spoon's Britt Daniel, whose fingerprints are all over the open-air production job on this track, "Percussion Gun".
