The first CD i ever bought was AC/DC Live. Never was a huge fan but when i changed from cassettes to disks i just figured i'd start alphabetically. Long story short, i always liked this band but now i'm really obsessed with the whole Bon Scott era. It helps that i just read a book about them ("AC/DC, Maximum Rock n Roll"). The funny thing is that i always hated Bon Scott's voice and definitely prefered Brian Johnson's. Now i'm all over Bon's jock and bought 4 albums of theirs all in one swoop and can't stop listening to them. I listen to them when i work, on the treadmill, before i go out, etc..it's crazy how much i love this shit now. I'm just shocked i missed the bandwagon for so long. How could i possibly not realize how awesome this band was.
Anyway, would like to see a poll on what singer from the band do people from here like better. A year ago it would have been Brian but right now i don't even think it's close. Bon is Soooooooooooo much better.

fucking love that shit. Bon has opened my ears for the first time in awhile. Plus the rest of the band is fucking sick. I pissed in the bandwagon and shit on the horses face.

Hey dude, AC/DC was my first ever concert-albeit the Brian era. I was 16 and it was in Adelaide in October 1992 on the Razor's Edge tour. I bought all the merch and drank a load of beer with my buddies coz the big fella's in front of us realized security were gonna take the case off them if it wasn't drunk. My first concert ever. I'll never forget it. And now I get to bring my missus to see them this year-how many years later? And being that we've moved overseas together and all, kinda brings things full circle...
You won't find a more solid rhythm section, and a more entertaining guitarist than Ang. Classic Rock Magazine has ye-olde AC/DC in it quite often-it's expensive but usually a good read (it's a UK mag, but you can get it in the States 3 months late or whatever).
Did you see that episode of the Simpsons with Ned Flanders and Homer singing: "kindly deeds and they're done for free"

I like the first 3 albums they did with Brian. After that, it's been downhill (though Black Ice was solid).
The downfall was Brian Johnson drinking way too much and his divorce. His lyrics took a total crapper, and he went to those horrible one line chorusesbum, starting with the Fly On The Wall album. The Young brothers took over lyric writing on the Razor's Edge album. They've been hit and miss. But both pale in their lyric writing compared to Bon. Bon was a great story teller with his lyrics in the Check Berry vein. He had the personality to have both lyrics with a sense of humor and menacing lyrics and have both be very believable.
Their biggest and best album - Back in Black - Brian Johnson's first - was mostly written/ inspired by Bon Scott. Brian certainly delivered vocally on that album though, no doubt. I always wonder would it have been better w/ Bon? How could it possibly be?

The drummers changed in the eighties. The original bassist, Mark Evens, left after Let there be rock. They got really bluesy on Powerage. Funny, I thought they started to lose the blues on Highway to Hell.

Do we blame Mutt Lange then?
I think so. I think Vanda & Young's sound was much more bluesy.
