Don't know shit about any of them. What I do know is that someone submitted Mountain Goats in their top 20 artists.

Echoes loves the Mountain Goats. I'm not too fond of Clem Snide, Mountain Goats aren't bad.

Mountain Goats are great. I thought they were in my top 20, too....

There's something about his poppy storytelling that reminds me of solo Pete Townshend, although the delivery is noticably different.

tell me what you liked/didn't like about the mountain goats, and what songs they played and steal a setlist and buy John a drink, okay?

I mean I really hope he likes them because I think they are great but I'm pretty much prepared to accept the fact that he might hate them

Protein Source and Ghana are two collections of rarities and hard to find EP's and compilation tracks. So they are spotty, but have some BRILLIANT songs (personally, I prefer Ghana - "Anti-Music Song", "Golden Boy", "Going To Pot Washington", "Noctifer Birmingham", "Going To Kirby Sigston", and "The Anglo-Saxons" are all great songs)

Hail and FArewell, GOthenburg is a tape from 95 that was never intended to be relased and was the holy grail of tMG collecting until it leaked last year. I haven't listened to it - it is pretty much a followup to Sweden, which I also haven't heard yet.

Zopilota Machine is great. The first real Mountain Goats album. Lo-fi and a lot of really great honest songs, but took me a while to get into. Has the absolutely classic "Going To Georgia"

Tallahassee is one of my favourites. A great story about a married couple disintegrating in fantastic fashion. Has one of the best 3 songs run to end it I've ever heard, and the amazing "No Children." Gets slow in parts, but I love it to death. Listen to this first. His first album with good production

Nice - my first experience was likewise through that album, but I didn't like it so much. It wasn't until I heard The Sunset Tree and tallahassee heels

also that sentence should have read "that I fell head over heels" at the end of it

He has a cover of "The Sign" on Bitter Melon Farm, which is excellent as well. Love the guy.
