Alright, so it would seem that i pulled i got bugs' mix since he left his name attached and didn't untag the tracks
Anyways man, i apologize that i can't give a very in depth track by track review of this mix because i'm just not a fan of rap and hip hop and honestly don't know shit all about it. I found a lot of the tracks on the front half to be fairly similar sounding, what i would (possibly in my ignorance) refer to as west coast rap. I could be way off but it's the kind of rap/hip hop that i associate with tv, movies and games based in LA.
A few of the tunes on the second half were a little more to my liking with the Beasties and Tribe Called Quest...i'm at least moderately familiar with those groups. The one sandwiched between those tracks wasn't bad either...Mars and the Slug.
I will say though that the stuff on this mix is a lot more tolerable than the shit i hear in the mall and blasting on people's car stereos around town. The theme of the mix seems to be groovy chill out tunes so there's lots of strong and unique bass lines and choruses with sultry backup singers. Thank fuck there is no yelling and grunting shit i can't stand that style.
So once again sorry bro, your mix ended with the wrong dude. Hopefully someone else will grab it and give it a proper review.

i don't see how disliking rap and hip hop, but admitting my ignorance of the genre outside of what i hear through mass media could be considered discriminatory.

There are five mixes outstanding. Two I know have been promised. Others I don't know about I've PMed them but so far no responses.
i've got another mix that i could put the finishing touches on if you're in need of another one.
3/5 will be in by the end of the week (hopefully). The other two I don't know about still but one of those guys hasn't been on in a long time so if you could do an extra mix that would be great. I had hoped to do one myself just in case but baby putting in an early appearance scuppered that!

reviews are a little slow coming in, huh?
I don't have a mix yet, but I can tell you when I do get mine it'll be at least 3-4 days before I actually review it, if not longer. I've learned I need to let them sink in a bit.

great job on the mixtape - here are my comments:
1. i think this is a doves interlude of some kind, a nice intro 2. cat power-I don't blame you; great tune…never noticed how at parts it sounds kind of rushed and it sounded before. i love her voice, and when it's her and a piano it's hard to go wrong 3. the voice sounds familiar, incubus?; anyway, really cool effects going on with the guitars, weird rhythm...pretty cool track 4. porcupine tree; i don't think i've ever heard this, but it's really cool, chill PT track...where can i find this? 5. lanegan (in some form); not sure what song this is, but i got a huge boner. FAN-FUCKING-TASTIC…simple voice and piano… 6. muse-shrinking universe; man I don't listen to hullabaloo enough; classic older muse, operatic vocal, computerized noises, rockin guitars 7. m83 maybe?; female vocal, kind of trancey effects...i like it 8. different… kind of a slow, groovy track with some falsetto…sounds like a good song to fuck to 9. doves-break me gently; what can i say here, i only recently became obsessed with this band (spurred on from a previous mixtape actually), this is one of my faves 10. mogwai or EITS; great little quiet song, makes a nice transition 11. another different type track…very short...the editors? Probably not…I like the weird effect on the vocal 12. riff sounds familiar…nick cave I think? i always say i need to listen to this guy more, everything i hear from him i like 13. a perfect circle-orestes; damn haven't listened to these guys in forever, i need to dust off mer de noms 14. cure; I've never heard this song, it sounds very well produced, so i wonder if it's off one of their newer albums (which i never herad) it's pretty damn good, sounds a little happier 15. very dancey/techno-y song… not familiar at all, like it…a nice beat, yet still laid back vibe 16. portishead-undenied; one thing missing from third was the scratchy record sound, I love that on this album; awesome chill portishead track 17. interpol-leif erikson; i love this album, but i put this song in the lower half, still it fits nicely in the mix 18. an awesome seamless transition from the last track; voice sounds familiar, but can't place it; loving this track, excellent closer, definitely makes me want more music
so i believe for the 2nd straight time i got a mix from psychobain...and i'm totally on board with that. he and i have similar tastes, and he's a damn fine mixmaker. i'll take one from him every time.
so i need to know the PT album, the lanegan album, and the other unknown tracks please.
