Foo Fighters fans can start getting excited, because in 2011, Dave Grohl will step out from behind the drums for Them Crooked Vultures and return as frontman for the Foos. During an appearance on The Zane Lowe Show on BBC Radio, Grohl spilled tons of details about the Foos forthcoming, still untitled album. He said that the album is being produced by Butch Vig, who also produced Nirvana's Nevermind, and is being recorded in Grohl's garage without the use of digital recording tools.
Grohl revealed that they're "seven songs in" out of "the 14 songs we're recording" for the album. He also stressed that this album will be a heavy one -- so heavy, in fact, that on the entire album, "There's not one acoustic guitar. There's not even an acoustic guitar in the house. So, each song that we're doing is full on. It's just full on."
"We're making a movie about this whole experience too. We have a director. Basically in 2011 you're not gonna be able to get us out of your hair, that's what we're planning. I'm excited."
Grohl also revealed some special collaborators on the album, including former Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic, and Husker Du singer Bob Mould, who sings on a track called "Dear Rosemary." Grohl says the song is like "if Husker Du wrote a four-and-a-half minute hit opus and then the Foo Fighters played it, that's what it sounds like."
It was also confirmed that the Foo Fighters will play two shows in Milton Keynes, UK at The National Bowl on July 2nd and 3rd. Opening acts will include Jimmy Eat World, Death Cab For Cutie, The Hot Rats, Bob Mould, and Biffy Clyro. Tickets for the shows go on sale Saturday, November 5th.

It'd be a long road to get me from where I am now to a revitalized Foo Fighters fan, but most of those descriptions sound pretty encouraging. Thanks for the tip.

This should turn out well for them.

Oh, you think I'm being douchey? Well I shall have to re-examine everything then. Thanks brah.
After the one before the last one I hopped off the "gotta buy this for completions sake" Foo Fighters train.

After touring with the heavy-hitting supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, Dave Grohl is getting back to basics with the Foo Fighters for their next album. In an interview with the BBC, Grohl revealed the new Foos record is their heaviest one yet, with nary an acoustic guitar or ballad on the album. "Each song is full on, the whole record is full on," he said. "In the 14 songs, there's not one acoustic guitar, there's not even one in the house."
The Foo Fighters are cutting the record DIY-style in Grohl's garage — "Totally old school analog," he said — and the album finds Grohl returning to his Nirvana-era roots. Nevermind producer Butch Vig is at the helm and bassist Krist Novoselic will make a guest appearance on bass. "This whole project has been really cool," Grohl said. "I haven't made a record with Butch for 20 years." So far, the Foos have cut seven tracks and are planning to lay down five or six more.
Grohl also revealed that the Foos are documenting the recording process for a movie, to be released in 2011. And the group has already announced a few U.K. dates for July of next year. "Basically, 2011, you're not gonna be able to get us out of your hair, that's what we're planning," Grohl said. "I'm excited."
