Not really.

If you're truly curious, just buy any album from the 70's, their golden age. They were very hit and miss after that. Some of the 80s albums suffer from 80s production techniques. Just grab the 70s albums and the anthology and you're set.

Yea, they really don't have that much going as an album band. There is a two disc anthology called "Hey Ho, Let's Go!" that I think is perfect.

1977 Rocket to Russia
1978 Road to ruin
(1979 It's Alive)

Those first 4 albums + live album is probably the coolest run in rock 'n roll history.

And I think the Ramones are the coolest band to have ever existed.

OB's thoughts on the Ramones?

I fell in love with them as a child but never realized that sound I remembered all those years were the Ramones. I saw them live in Amsterdam just in time...
Then I fell in love again, with their goodbye album: Adios Amigos! I could recommend this whole album to everybody.

groetjes,
Mirella :)

Never noticed. No way I don't continue to refer to them as 'The' Ramones.

End of the Century is better than some people want you to think.

As was said, not an album band.

The Rhino cd reissue of Leave Home has a great 16 song live set from '76 tacked on the end as a bonus.

If you have the 2-disc anthology, you have everything you need unless you absolutely love the band and need to hear everything they ever recorded.

The Anthology is the place to start for sure. But there are a ton of good songs that arent on it, such as Most of Adios Amigos and the CJ sung songs are all really damn good, especially Strength To Endure and The Crusher.

I agree. That's GREAT STUFF. End of the Century has its moments as well.
