Bitches Brew is one of Miles's best albums, yes, but like previously said, is very different from Kind of Blue and Birth of the Cool. At the time, he was experimenting with funk and rock and formed a style called 'fusion.' It's evenly split between people who liked Davis's fusion era stuff and those who don't. Most people I know whose first experience with Davis was more straight-up jazz don't like it that much, FWIW.
TS808 mentioned Sketches of Spain which dabbles in flamenco and is essential. It's more like an orchestral piece rather than a jazz record. I also have to recommend In A Silent Way which incorporates synthesizer and organs into Davis's work. It's a little more atmospheric and dream-like but IMO is also essential if you're getting into Davis's stuff.

Holy shit!
I just picked up "Tribute to Jack Johnson". At the rock/blues end of jazz. But is just stunning. Really awesome album. Highly recommended at the rock end of jazz.

that album pretty much changed my life in the sense that it blew my mind and got me exploring jazz as a whole which i now listen to more than rock on a regular basis.
Well even if this thread is old, I can discuss Miles any time.
Sketches of Spain can relax me no matter what. Hands down the best album I'm aware of that can help me chill out when I really need to.
In A Silent Way is amazing. The musicians involved are all top-notch, particularly Dave Holland. One of the best bassists alive today, and definitely worth listening to on that record.
Bitches' Brew...insane. There were hints on In A Silent Way, but man what a record.
Jack Johnson...what an incredible trade off between Miles and John McLaughlin. Hearing this almost makes me cry at the proposed collaboration between Miles and Hendrix. I don't know if it could have matched this record, but I would certainly have liked to hear them try.
I suppose I don't have anything new to offer in light of this thread. But damn man, get your hands on those records. They cannot be matched.
Btw, if anyone wants to hear more of McLaughlin, get some Mahavishnu Orchestra albums, especially Inner Mounting Flame. It's much defferent than what he did with Miles, but equally as good as most of his Davis-era work.

I bought Kind Of Blue and it is pretty great. I also have Birth Of The Cool, which is equally awesome. Miles was a genius
