Best Eurovision Song Contest ever, no doubt, even considering how little that really is saying. I didn't watch most of it because 1) I was watching Sweden beat Canada in the IIHF hockey world championship semifinals, and 2) the music is criminally bad and I wouldn't have bothered watching it at all if it weren't for Lordi, but still. I love how Europe got together and did this for ze lulz.

I watched the end of the show - for the first time ever Most of the songs were really unbearable, i had to turn off the volume during some performances. Most of them sound (and look) the same: generic dancefloor friendly bubblegum pop with some ethnic coloring + minimum clothing.
Lordi really were radically different with their monster costumes and, well, sort of rock approach. And there strategy worked a lot better than anyone had expected. Sure, all the noise those conservative religious groups made about Lordi's "satanism" caused plenty of publicity and probably helped them as well.
But yeah, this was fun. And in Finland the fun is going to continue for a very long time...

Finland should have sent Kansalaistottelemattomuus, they would win for the name alone.
Never heard of them but the name simply means civil disobedience. There are lots of interesting bands in Finland, sure, but who cares, compared to the standard eurovision pop even Lordi sounds ok.

The UK needs to split up like the ex-Soviets and ex-Yugoslavs to compete. N. Ireland, Wales, Scotland, Jersey, Guernsey, and Isle of Man. Spain needs to let the Catalon and Basque areas have their own vote.
Loved the Lithuanian guys who kept shouting We're the winners of eurovision and ended up with very few votes. And the German country band.
