I just downloaded DJ Shadow's Diminishing Returns CD. It is some of the most amazing shit I have ever heard. Gave me brand new respect for Shadow, this shit is sick. Especially disc 2, the psych-rock mix, Heres the info...

The incredibly welcome release of a mix originally done for the BBC in March 2003, the two-disc DJ Shadow set Diminishing Returns allows fans (or those lucky enough to find one of the thousand-copy official run) a listen in to Josh Davis' country-wide vinyl-scavenging expeditions of the past ten years. The king of all beat-diggers, Davis reportedly owns the largest collection of rap vinyl on the planet, most of it gleaned from the rotting basements of urban record stores (just check out the Scratch DVD to get some flavor). The first disc alone is a gold mine for hip-hop fans, featuring 80 minutes of quick-cut tracks (most of them obscure) along Shadow's interests: early West Coast hardcore, along with plenty of straight-ahead Golden Age hip-hop. The second disc, a 40-minute mix, is similar to Brainfreeze and Product Placement, his collaborations with Cut Chemist, although rather than deep funk it's an eclectic selection of obscure psychedelic rock. An unreleased Shadow production, "War Is Hell," is tacked onto the end.

This is a great mix and original copies were limited to 1000, so it's not always easy to get ahold of. It's import only, unless you order direct from Shadow himself. The second disc (the "minute mix") is an amazing blend of 60's and 70's psych for about forty minutes, and it sounds amazing.

You guys have the stuff he did with Cut Chemist? I only have mp3s, I THINK the album was called Brainfreeze, it's so good..my god..just...wow.

Endtroducing is a great album, I got into it about this time last year. Still need to get the Private Press and Pre-Emptive Strike

Headz 1 and 2 compliations by Mo Wax are rare but awesome if you can get 'em. Has DJ Shadow, UNKLE and Air amongst others.

Also fans of the genre should check out DJ Krush - he be da man.

I've got 'em both - Brainfreeze and Product Placement. Utterly awe-inspiring art doesn't begin to describe it.

If you haven't picked up The Private Press be sure to get the dough together ASAP. It's quality work.

If anyone comes across Funky Stuff, get it. Its really fuckin' good. The first ten minutes are nuts.

I'm downloading Diminishing Returns right now. Pre-emptive Strike was pretty awesome but I was kind of meh on The Private Press.

Just to reiterate, the second disc kicks ass and I'd highly recommend it for DJ Shadow fans.
