set list

Around The Sun
Finest Worksong (nice to rock out to old songs!)
Begin the Begin (miles standish proud!!!!)
So Fast, So Numb
Animal
Boy In The Well (he said this was new and he hoped we liked it a lot!)
Cuyahoga (i love this song...perhaps because we always hear it at the cleveland shows. he said it was written in 1986 and sadly the political climate hasnt changed, etc)
Aftermath
Welcome to the Occupation
High Speed Train (its about a romance set far in the future; i didnt like it on the cd, but now i do. they had these cool lights flashing during it, made u feel like u were on a high speed train...)
Bad Day (catchy)
I Wanted to Be Wrong (*swoon* love this song; he said normally songs arent very personal but this song has "a little bit of michael in it")
The One I Love (i called my mom during this and held up the phone. he looked at me and pointed and smiled!)
She Just Wants To Be (a very needy and yearning version)
Final Straw (talked about politics and 9/11. about how they wrote that song in the aftermath; made the song sound more pertinent; went on about how he doesnt care who u vote for but vote because its very important, etc)
Losing My Religion
Walk Unafraid (v good version with long acapella stuff at the start....rocked)
Life and How To Live It (mills dedicated this to his friends after saying how important friends were in our lives, etc)

ENCORES:
WTFK (rocked out; at the end michael said "dan rather we are with you"
LNY(i love this song...its easier to leave than to be left behind...)
Drive (lots of crowd partecipation)
Permanent Vacation (before these next 2 songs he said these are the oldest and newest rem songs not on an album)
I'm Gonna DJ (i dont think i care for this one)
Man In The Moon (better than its the end of the world....)

so.. all in all....excellent venue, excellent seats. michael was supremely animated and the music was tight. i'd have picked a different set list, and included wanderlust, rockville, and turn you inside out.

i thought it was just me but my friend said michael was staring at me on at least 2 occasions. of course this may be because we were totally close and i could stare right into his eyes. and he seemed to recognize my shirt (PJ) because he looked at me when he coughed, said he had a cold that he caught from "those pearl jam fuckers". he laughed, and said they're both feeling better now that kerry's polls were up.

he wore a kerry shirt at the encore. black suit with a white oxford shirt that said "faith, hope, charity" , with a punk rocker belt for the main portion. oh, and he had that blue stuff on his eyes.

the best part....we waited after. and i got photos of peter buck and m. stipe. and autographs of mills and stipe. stipe shook my hand, and i asked if i could take his picture and he said yes. but he didnt smile. it was very amusing. he's short.

if anyone has tickets/wants to get tickets for the nati show, i'm in.
