I agree. I also really love Cardinal Song and 90 Mile Water Wall. Otherwise Sad Songs is a perfectly good, though not outstanding record. I also think the 1st record is good too. It just so happens that starting with Alligator they've been pretty much perfect so the earlier albums are easy to forget about.
i can see that for sure. Sad Songs was the first album of theirs i bought so it'll always have a special spot for me, even if i do agree the last 2 are better, i still frickin' adore SSFDL. Pretty ecstatic when i found it on vinyl @ Reckless in Chicago few years ago.
Thanks for posting that. I hadn't checked the highviolet site in a while and would have missed that. Great song. My expectations for this album are getting dangerously high
