I am absolutely in love with this thing. Got an invitation today, and been listening music non-stop ever since. There's so much! One Stephen Stills album I've been trying to find for ages was there, as so many other great artists. I am amazed, and also a little afraid; am I still going to buy actual albums..? This probably totally ruins my studying

One of my favorite albums, anyone who got Spotify, take a listen. Is Spotify still not available in US?
don' think so, they have other stuff though.. started using it, though mostly at work. It's not bad but there's some bands completely absent, it's not that easy to add stuff to a setlist I find, for example if you want to add an artist, it also adds the whole compilation albums they appear on, not just the artist's songs... Also I find annoying the fact you can't rate songs.. not even for yourself (so you can't easily make a note of what's interesting). And the sound quality is rather poor even home on a fast broadband..there should be some quality settings available.
it's a good idea, fine in a Myspace sort of way to quickly check out some bands, but not for a proper listen (I'll still download the album for that).

I actually don't hear any difference whether I am listening an album from Spotify or from cd. I don't have any Hi-Fi equipment though. Also they have now added an option to listen the music in better quality, that is if you are a premium user. But as I said, to me the quality is just fine as it is. Also it requires more bandwidth when the quality gets better which is an obvious reason for the current sound quality; it probably has been a compromise to make the music available to as many as possible, meaning that they have to take under consideration also those who haven't got a high speed internet-connection.
Yeah, you don't find Metallica, Led Zeppelin or Pink Floyd, but there are THOUSANDS of other bands and artists, and more gets added every day. New Dylan, it's there, Booker T's latest solo, there also, as are many many many others.
I still buy cd's but I also listen alot of music from Spotify. I like listening whole albums instead of separate tracks, so to me it is perfect, I just search for the album and press play. I like it how I don't have to first download something to see whether I like it; now I can just search, press play, and that's it. And if I like it alot, I still buy the cd.
And about the rating.. well, never done that so no opinion on that one. Could well be that they are also bringing this option in the future, it is still a beta version. They are also developing offline-spotify which sounds interesting.

I got an invite from a friend of mine last week, but haven't done anything with it. What do I need to know? Is it worth it? I know ZERO about this. What is it? BTW, I'm lazy.
