I always found it difficult to tell when glorified_version was actually in to a band because they were good or because he read an article on pitchfork. For this reason, I have never heard a single note by Mr. Stevens.

nah sufjan is good stuff. i go to pitchfork from time to time and i've never seen him on there either

It's pronounced soof-yahn. Some people call him Sufyawn for obvious reasons.
Michigan > Seven Swans > Illinois > Avalanche was a pretty impressive run of discs. But through the intervening half-decade of slowdown my interest in him has really waned. Going back and listening now, everything except "Seven Swans" seems majorly bloated and kinda one-trick-pony-ish. An 80 minute CDR full of his best material would be showstopping, but making it sure would require wading through a lot of needless excess.
