British Sea Power 'wrapping up new album sessions'
British Sea Power are on the verge of finishing their new album, according to guitarist Noble.
In a blog on Britishseapower.co.uk the guitarist said the band, who have recently returned from touring Australia, are now set to head into the studio to complete the album.
He also promised fans that a new track will be given away next month and confirmed that British Sea Power are planning another Tan Hill Festival, to take place in May.
"We go into the studio at the end of the week to mix the new album, which will be all wrapped up in a few weeks. We're all very positive about it, and will hopefully be able to let you hear a track in a month's time," Noble wrote.
"There will be a few live dates at the end of April/early May too. Mostly regular shows, and some 'Man Of Aran' shows. The Tan Hill Festival (which is shaping up nicely) will also go ahead this year, on one glorious weekend in early May."

1) Zeus 2) Cleaning Out The Rooms 3) Can We Do It? 4) Bear 5) Pardon My Friends 6) Mongk 7) Kw-h + unlisted bonus track ‘Retreat’
Technically, you could argue this is a mini album, but we like to think of it as a MAXI EP. After being away for a while, and with the album release date going back to January, we thought we’d be generous.

I was listening to The Decline... on the way to work today and wondering what these guys were up to. This is so exciting. A US tour would be pretty sweet too.

I saw them on their Rock Music tour and they were a great show. I haven't listened to them in a while but this should be neat.

Reading, England's British Sea Power has issued a behind-the-scenes look at their fifth studio effort, Valhalla Dancehall, their follow up to 2009's Man of Aran soundtrack.
Set for a January 20th release via Rough Trade Records, the band narrates the clip, explaining Valhalla Dancehall could be a place "where you'd imagine Lee 'Scratch' Perry and Thor having a great time together."
"There's not a lot of dancehall music on there, but it's Valhalla Dancehall... It's where all the North-men went. When they die in war they go to the heaven in Valhalla and have a good time."
btw, the Zeus ep is avaliable already

the Zeus ep is pretty easily the best thing they've done since The Decline, if you ask me, so I'm excited about this new record now.
The EP just came in the mail today, but I haven't listened to it yet. That's great news.

I caught them in a small club in Columbus OH on that tour and it was fun. I've gotten way more into them since then though, so I'd love to see them again.
yeah, "zeus" "bear" and "cleaning out the rooms" are three of the best songs they've ever put to tape I reckon. the countoff in "bear"
I really dig "can we do it" too. the best kind of throw-away.
my only worry for the Valhalla Dancehall is that the Zeus ep is where they got all the "funny business" out of the way or something, and that the LP proper will be too studied. this band is at its best when they let all their eccentricities to the forefront.
