Yes, John Mayer, I see that you have competently and soullessly translated Kid A to an all guitar format. I can see that you want desperately to be liked and respected as a serious musician. But I still hate you, because you are terrible, and your vocal stylings are gross.

I like this post a lot.

I really don't know much about his sound outside the "singing through the halls of your high school" song that the girls in the class above me wanted as their class song when they graduated...luckily some sense came to the class and they picked "Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)". I have heard he can play a guitar however.

When Mayer shows off his guitar playing its that 80's Eric Clapton Big Band Adult Contemporary Easy Listening Happy Blues style that makes me nauseous.

his 3 piece band is awesome when he's not singing.

Accidentally posted this in the tour thread:
I bought TKOL on iTunes, and I'm listening on decent headphones, not great ones, but does anyone else hear the clipping at the beginning of Codex, like they went too hard on the levels during mastering? Or is it just my headphones?

I guess I should elaborate on that. Years ago, I bought Remain in Light almost entirely because I had heard that Kid A and Amnesiac were both influenced by that album, among many others. I could hear those blueprints in parts of tracks, but of course that era was full of influences for Radiohead. Remain in Light's touch, for me, was sort of hard to pick out for the most part.
Conscious or not, it seems like The King of Limbs is the true beneficiary of that particular influence. Those rhythms! Those loops! I can't think of another Radiohead album that's this danceable upon immediate examination. And then, listen after listen, the music really opens up. Much of this album sounds like new territory, yet by the time I get to "Separator", I recall everything that I've ever enjoyed about this band.
The length is regrettable, but I can't think of any real way that I'd change that aside from letting loose a little bit more on some of those songs. You can't add more tracks because it just wouldn't fit. All in all, it's a great record.
