Nina Simone does the only "House of the Rising Sun" that I care to listen to. I love Dylan, but I hate pretty much everything off his first record.

the Original Animals version is the best IMO
Eric Burdens versions after that however... very few have I liked


Jimi Hendrix's instrumental version however... now thats killer

I always thought it was a good song for Jack White to cover, and low-and-behold, the White Stripes did cover it... too bad the recording was rather shitty, cause it sounded pretty damn wicked.
