There are certain bands that just shouldn't be covered.
Totally disagree. However, when a band or artist has truly created something of value then faithful covers are hopeless endeavors.
The Clash, The Ramones, The Talking Heads...you wouldn't want to cover them direct. It would be a bad joke. The Who, though....their gift was songwriting, not original sound. Like the Stones, they borrowed heavily enough to justify the lack of interpretation.
Bob Dylan? You'd better make something unique out of it...don't just copy. Phil Ochs, though? Again, incredibly great songs with a tragic lack of unique sound, so...

Pretty much agree with this, Rivers (his name is River right?) vocals do not suit this song at all, it sounds quite terrible. The music is nice, but it's almost an exact copy of the original music, so I don't see the point.
