Modern-day guys I'm talking... I'm a huge fan of Danny Carey and Mike Portnoy.

My all time favorite is Peart. Although for pure channeling of 'feeling' I'd probably go with Bonham. I loved Ginger Baker as well. And Keith Moon. And Bill Bruford. And Stewart Copeland. And Matt Cameron of course... and many others.

I think my present-day favorite drummer is Gavin Harrison though. "...As we say 'The creme de le creme', as they say in the creme business" :)

How about you all?

There's no way I'd put Matt Cameron in that list. He's good, but not that good.

My favourite current drummer is Loel Campbell.

If this was either a PJ or Soundgarden board you'd get some big arguments. Oh wait... ;)

Oh and Gene Hoglan definitely is on that tier. What a powerhouse!

Carter Beauford

Incredible sense of timing with some unique rhythms and excellent fills. Knows how to keep a song interesting. One of my favorite drummers of all time.

I would say he even beats Matt for best drummer from the 90´s...

There's really no comparison. Carter's in the elite clinician group.

Matt's still got a hard time playing old PJ songs in the right tempo.

My favorite drummer is whichever one is keeping a solid beat for me that day. Guitar players are a dime a dozen, but a competent drummer is sadly hard to come by.

Personally I'd give that one to Danny Carey...
