Sure, searching the term Mudhoney in thread titles brings you more than a dozen threads, but they're way too specific and there's no general thread for the band, so I'm making one now.
Ok, I saw them open for PJ last night and it made me realize I've wasted more than 2 decades not listening to these guys. So I'm going to pick up some Mudhoney records and see where that gets me.

I love em, always have. And they put on a great show, seeing them is probably the closest I'll ever get to seeing vintage Stooges. Mark channels a young Iggy nowadays, in my humble opinion.
Also, they released a vinyl only compilation of b-sides and demos earlier in the year. It sounds super raw and just fucking rocks. Its called Head on the Curb, if anyone can track down a digital version, please PM me.
Their cover of this song is on that compilation. Its amazing

Mudhoney's great, but they haven't been the same since Lukin left. Their last few records have been all right, nothing spectacular. All of their early stuff is really good, and Tomorrow Hit Today from 1998 was too.
I'd also recommend The Monkeywrench, The New Strychnines, Bloodloss, and Steve Turner's solo records -- all Mudhoney side projects.

Everything RA25 just said is on the money.
Opinions vary about their best record, but the self-titled debut and 'Piece of Cake' from 1992 are my faves. I've heard both fans and the band trash the latter but fuck 'em, I think it's their best.

Piece Of Cake's awesome. Love that one. Suck You Dry is such a great song. And there are others too like Blinding Sun, Acetone, and Living Wreck that make the entire thing stand out. The Lucky Ones from 2008 was OK, but again, for me the magic and comedy Lukin brought to the band kind of disappeared when he split.
Their documentary I'm Now should be coming out this fall. Its bound to be pretty great.

My Brother The Cow was the first ever CD I bought with my own money. I don't think it's great but I have an emotional attachment to that one. Piece Of Cake is obviously better.
Also, I saw Monkeywrench open for PJ one time and I had no idea it was Mark Arm until I read the review.

My Brother The Cow. I forgot about that one. I listened to that religiously in 1995/1996. Great, great album. I love the inspiration for the title. They pulled into a drive-thru with a friend who refused to order a hamburger based on the grounds that he could not eat "my brother the cow."
