I've been tearing up my apartment looking for my Mudhoney CDs for a couple of days now thanks to this thread. No luck yet, but I'm having a good time with the Self Polluted and Monkey Wrench sets on my hard drive.

Oh, weird. I'm listening to 'Head on the Curb' now and it's bizarre hearing this version of When In Rome which is one of my favourite Mudhoney songs. It, uh, probably wouldn't be if this was the only version I'd ever heard.
opened my the lucky ones vinyl today, got two things:
- a 7" single i didnt know it existed
- remembering how good this record is...steve´s work here is really good, you can appreciate his greatness being the only guitar. Also, is one of my favorites dan peters albums.
For me, 'Since We've Become Translucent', esp. Can you Dig the Light, Crooked and Wide and Sonic Infusion, 'Tommorrow Hit Today' esp. I Will Fight No More Forever, Night of the Hunted and Move with the Wind and 'The Lucky Ones' esp. Shimmering Light, We are Rising are by far and away the bands best recordings. As a youth I dug every early release but honestly I can't go back to much of it. Self Titled still holds up for me in parts. I was totally blown away in mid 2000's when I picked up Translucent after not hearing them for years. I think the new bassist is great and their sound has come a long way, hoping they keep putting out new music. No more horns though I hope, couldn't get into Under a Billion Suns as much as I'd like. I hear some magic in the guitar work on it however.
Steve Turner! Check out his solo discs, especially his debut and Bad Ideas. The Beautiful Winter ep has some very nice stuff on it as well.
I am very appreciate Pearl Jam brought them out on the recent canadain tour, they were way tighter than Pearl Jam though not in the same class obviously. Long live Mudhoney!

yeah Translucent is such a great album...i was so blown away too, listening to the begging of dig the light and thinking my god this is going to be awesome. i will check those records...stone is playing there right?
Gossard is on Turners first one for sure, but not his signiture sound, must be on other instruments. I remember the same feeling after the first part of Can you Dig the Light, my favourite moments of the band are the acoustic riff that comes into that song in the later parts, the second verse of We Are Rising and the Shimmerig Light all the way through.
