So Thom Yorke's sideband Atoms For Peace recorded an album that will eventually see the light of day:
While many people are still freaking out over Radiohead coming to New York City and becoming the hottest ticket of the year for two nights, the Thom Yorke side project, Atoms For Peace, is continuing to bubble up slowly.
Speaking to Rolling Stone, Red Hot Chili Peppers/Atoms For Peace bassist Flea said that the album came about after the group finished their brief tour. “We went into a studio for three days and just jammed – totally improvising,” Flea said. “Thom and Nigel [Godrich] have taken that stuff and done shit with it. I’ve heard little bits and pieces. I have no idea when it’s going to come out. Not real soon though.”
He won’t really talk about what the album sounds like, however, saying “I kinda feel like it’s not really my place to talk about that stuff. The mystery should be the mystery.”
But he does have a deep feeling that Atoms will tour again. “I hope that happens. I just have a warm place in my heart and my mind and my balls for the whole fucking concept.”

i was lucky enough to catch one of the nyc shows these guys did, it really was a great band for thom yorke. the way they played the eraser songs sounded great.
i'd bet though, that once thom yorke gets done with "tweaking" the recordings they made, flea won't even recognize them...
Thom Yorke's Atoms For Peace unveil new track 'Default'
Supergroup's new single will be released on September 10
Thom Yorke's supergroup Atoms For Peace have unveiled a new track 'Default' – which can be previewed on iTunes.
Yorke features in the group alongside longtime Radiohead producer Nigel Godrich and Red Hot Chili Pepper's Flea as well as drummer Joey Waronker and percussionist Mauro Refosco.
'Default' is out on September 10 and follows the band's earlier release in August - a set of remixes released on Modeselektor's label Monkeytown. It included a remix of one of the band's own tracks 'Other Side – Stuck Together', which was the B-side to the band's single, 'Tamer Animals', a remix of a track by Other Lives – who have supported Radiohead on tour.
Thom Yorke and producer Nigel Godrich debuted new Atoms For Peace songs during their DJ set at an LA club earlier this year. The pair played the new songs during their set at Transmission LA: AV Club, a free 17-day music and visual arts festival series at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles, curated by the Beastie Boys' Mike D.
The tracks are believed to be from the group's forthcoming debut LP, which is rumoured to be released in 2012 – although no official confirmation has been issued.
