I take it the arena was packed? When I saw them open for PJ I couldn't imagine them headlining MSG but I'm now thinking that the fact that the arena was not close to filled really made a difference. Totally different experience than seeing them at the Boston Orpheum. FireFly will be interesting since it'll be a big fest crowd.

Some of it (Sister) reminds me of recent MMJ, only it doesnt suck worse than anything has ever sucked before. he even sounds like Jim James minus the annoying bullshit.

Been a while since I revisted it as well.

Tour Rehearsal Tapes, a new digital EP from The Black Keys, was released yesterday on Nonesuch Records. Available exclusively on iTunes for the first two weeks, the EP features six songs recorded live in the studio during December 2011 (see below for full track-listing). That Little Black Submarines song is pretty good though. I went and downloaded the album based solely on that video posted above.

I don't care for the Black Keys, but I'd love to hear rehearsal tapes of bands I like.

I think most bands would be aware their fans would like something like this but hardly any of them do. It doesn't seem like there's any real point aside from making an easy buck. I guess it's not that far removed from the Single Video Theory idea except the Black Keys are EVERYWHERE right now.

I don't think it's a cash grab. If they were looking for another incremental cash grab they'd go to the next company trying to use one of their songs in an ad. And while I was typing that they sold another song to Scope for mouthwash.
