No matter how many discs they include with these box sets, it'll never be enough to contain Billy Corgan's ego.

The Pisces Iscariot reissue has been an absolute clusterfuck. The physical CDs have glitches and tracking errors and disc 2 is brickwalled. All those that pre-ordered 24/96 Hi-Def downloads are now being informed that they don't have 24/96 and we were given 24-bit/44.1kHz instead despite being charged for Hi-Def. And the remix of one of my favorite tracks, Glynis, is terrible. BC starts laughing towards the end!

Man, the bonus tracks for Pisces Iscariot are really great. He had so much freaking talent and recorded so many great songs during that period. He could have just rerecorded the best of the bonus tracks from the Gish, SD and Pisces Iscariot reissue and put out a fucking epic double album instead of Oceania and probably gotten the universal critical acclaim he so desperately wants.
This isn't a knock on Oceania - I think that album is very very good and exceeded my expectations - but damn, his early 90s stuff just kills it.

yes, even as an Oceania fan, his songs from that era are amazing....and he was really in other level of songwriting compared to his peers..

Nah, there's probably no situation that would involve Billy Corgan getting "universal critical acclaim" at this point, and from what I've heard, these bonus tracks aren't that good. Those early SP tracks are greater achievements in orchestrated riffs and noise than they are in songwriting, and the present day Pumpkins just don't make that same noise. I'd posit that a re-recording of those old tracks not only wouldn't sound much better than "Oceania," it probably wouldn't sound that much different.

those songs are good in every way...the lyrics are good, the noise, the riffs...i dont know how would they sound now, and actually i dont care. I like the fact that billy records and release his material, even if he needs a good producer most of the time.

yeah - these songs are awesome (mostly). It's not just a bunch of riffs - they are complete songs and definitely worth listening to.
