the album is great (will prolly be in my top 10-15)... live she's hit or miss
saw her 4x this year, twice solo opening for The National, both were just ok. the 2x i saw here with her band (headlining and opening for Arcade Fire), were killer though.
shes going back out on tour. the album didnt hold up for me as much as i thought it would, but still top 20. good album that hasn't gotten much talk here.

I saw her play last night and enjoyed it. Most of the songs translated well in a live setting. Now Now might have been my favorite. During Jesus Saves a recording of the 'bom bom boms' was being played while she sang over it...not quite sure how I feel about that. She played a sweet version of Dig a Pony.
She looks 100 times better in person compared to the album cover.

St. Vincent Announces New Album: Actor
Marnie Stern's Cutest Guitar Hero title under threat
When idiosyncratic guitar-shredder Annie Clark released her first album as St. Vincent, she named it after a running joke from "Arrested Development", arguably the greatest televised comedy of all time. So it's time to start speculating about Actor, the former Polyphonic Spree cultist's forthcoming second album. What's the story with that title? Team America inside joke? Open letter to casting directors of indie romantic comedies? I hope it's the latter. Seriously, she would kill it.
4AD will release Actor on May 5. Clark produced the album herself alongside Modest Mouse boardsman John Congleton. She also sings and plays guitar, bass, and keyboard on it, which might indicate why it's taken her two years to release her Marry Me follow-up. The album will also feature woodwinds, French horns, and three percussionists, all of which are fitting considering Clark's Sufjan connections.
Worth noting: Right now, there's a song on the album called "Black Rainbow", which is ridiculous because there are no black rainbows. The whole point of a rainbow is that they're a lot of different colors. Someone should tell Clark about that before it's too late.
The album's first single, "Actor Out of Work", will be out April 20. Clark will eventually announce full North American and European tours; in the meantime, she's got dates coming up at Noise Pop (in San Fran) and SXSW (in Austin).
Tracklist:
01 The Strangers 02 Save Me From What I Want 03 Neighbors 04 Actor Out of Work 05 Black Rainbow 06 Laughing With a Mouth of Blood 07 Marrow 08 The Bed 09 The Party 10 Just the Same But Brand New 11 The Sequel
Dates:
02-27 San Francisco, CA - Great American Music Hall (Noise Pop Festival) 03-18 Austin, TX - Central Presbyterian Church (4AD SXSW showcase) 03-20 Austin, TX - Antone's (Billions Corporation SXSW showcase)
