Saw him play a free concert at Discovery Green last fall. I liked his sound, but since the concert was free, the seating was less than optimal. We viewed his set from a barside table behind the stage area.

I really like him but the first single ain't messin around has me worried.
It sounded entirely too polished and poppy. I can deal with the pop from the first single, but i like his kind of edgy dirty sound from the bright lights ep and the stuff i've heard live
The whole "Blak and Blu" LP is pretty solid... It's probably the best new LP I've heard in months... Wouldn't call him the next Hendrix, but I guess there's very little he can do about that.

Here's a start baby:
I agree with your comments: pretty solid as a guitarist, Wouldn't call him the next Hendrix - still nothing wrong with this music either...

This album is pretty much a let down for me. Over-produced for my liking. The few songs that are borderline R&B are terrible as is the one song that sounds like a damn Lenny Kravitz song.
Someone got a hold of him with all the EP success, drug out the release of this album to add productoin value. Blues albums are ment to be rough.
It's like Jimi Hendrix and Prince had a baby. And that baby was raised on early 90's Seattle rock and good hip hop. Black and Blue is fucking beautiful.
