Duk Koo Kim is a great song
Quote:
Kim, Duk-Koo (January 8, 1959 – November 17, 1982) was a South Korean boxer whose death from injuries suffered during a match against Ray Mancini changed the sport of boxing in many ways.
Quote:
Mark Kozelek of Red House Painters has recorded several versions of a song named for Kim, most recently a version on the Sun Kil Moon album Ghosts Of The Great Highway. It happens to be 14 minutes long, the number of rounds he lasted in his final bout.

"Tonight The Sky" riff = Ohio by Neil Young
killer song
this album fucking slays. even coming close to being better than Ghosts of the Great Highway seemed next to impossible to me, but so far this thing is off to a great start.
edit: fuck... "Like The River" with Oldham on backing vocals... wow

have you heard the album they did that is made up of Modest Mouse covers? It's pretty damn good.
yeah.
i liked it, but found it hit or miss. some of the covers worked incredibly well and some bored me. overall i think it just felt a bit too monotone and similiar.

I agree, most of the songs kind of meld together. And the pitchfork review raised similar points. But a couple songs work very well, like Neverending Math Equation.
