At the risk of sounding like our resident loveable hyperbolator, Joey, "This Will Be Our Year" is just an absolutely perfect song for this band to cover.
The Daytrotter version of "Disaster" owns the album version--that song was maybe the single dip in the momentum of "Generals" for me, here it sounds vibrant and alive.
One thing you notice listening to the two sessions broken apart and mixed together like this is how much more meticulous a live band they became with their second record. The stuff from the first record has this gritty, almost ragged Southern soul to it--not unpolished, just very organic and loose. The "Generals" material is almost militaristic in its attention to detail. You did a great job pacing this mix--the two approaches play off each other beautifully.

Thanks, friend. And I love Disaster. It's probably my favorite song from Generals but the album version does it no justice compared to Daytrotter and the live version I witnessed.
