I think I just found a download of her first solo album from 1999.

You hold on to that, Pete. Share it when you're ready, but that time can't be now. This is your time.

Was it sort of like the time I tried to download a couple of tracks from Weezer's green album on napster in 2001 only to get "Oh What A Night" (and since for whatever inexplicable reason I had never heard that song, thought that it was just Weezer being silly old ironic Weezer?)

I had Palo Alto's "Some Things Must Go This Way" on a mix of Radiohead B-sides for about three years.

Yeah, sort of like that. Except I had to run malwarebytes after.

At the risk of sounding like our resident loveable hyperbolator, Joey, "This Will Be Our Year" is just an absolutely perfect song for this band to cover.

Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose.

And yes it is.

Let's rank the Laura Burhenn related releases that we've heard so far:

What We Lose in the Fire We Gain in the Flood
Wanderlust
Generals

I haven't heard Wanderlust yet. :?

But I'd put What We Lose... in the top spot. Generals is a close, close second. Then, Places in a distant third.

Wolf Mother is probably my all time favorite Mynabirds track.

My all time favorite is probably Right Place.

There are too many standouts on their first LP to pick a favorite. What We Gained, Let The Record Go, Right Place, Good Heart and Give It Time have all been (and continue to be) the ones I've called "favorite" most often. I love all of those songs.

But if I the powers that be made it so I could only listen to one Mynabirds song for the rest of my days... my choice would be Wolf Mother.

Yeah. Right Place, What We Gained In The Fire, and Give It Time are all rotating first album favorites for me.

I mean, this is a band that lyrically nails it with the first line of the first song on their first record.

We are ships on an ocean passing on are way back home. We collide for a minute then we move on, yes we move on.

I know we've touched on it before, but how is Wanderlust lyrically? Has she always been a strong lyricist or do you think this is something she's gained along the way?

She's definitely improved as time went on, but Wanderlust still shows a strong inclination for well written lyrics.

Why haven't you listened to it yet? There's a great song where she's sort of singing about getting herself off.

How many times have you masturbated to it?

I love this band. Easily my favorite "new" band of the last couple years. I can't get enough of them. Two outstanding albums, an awesome lead singer/insightful and soulful songwriter, a brilliant live show.

These guys have it. In spades.

I can't play the file you sent me, and I haven't taken the time to purchase my own copy. Haven't we talked about this?
