they almost sound fine...poor jerry, i guess that video is from 2002, when he was trying to go on tour with degradation trip.
He took that title serious when he opened for nickelback.
On Metal Evolution (episode 7) he says something like how much he likes Nickelback.
He always had some weird musical choices...they were too close to the glam and LA music scene in the early 90...really weird. Im glad his music is way better.

Not impressed at all; Jerry writes this songs with his eyes closed, i was expecting more. Sounds like a looking in view part 2, and even if the song is ok, i hope to see a departure from the sound of BGWTB.

I prefer it to A Looking In View, but I did think that song was terrible. This song's chorus is disappointing, and the bridge... but the verse and the riff I think are OK. It seems like they deliberately made the lyrics as abstract, foreboding and 'arty' as possible, so that you can't really tell what the song is about. All in all, it does seem like they're trying too hard to recreate a 90s aesthetic. I mean, so many of the images on that video are 'grunge' cliches.

Looks like I'm in the minority-- I really liked it. Hard to tell on laptop speakers but it seems to have some of the heaviness of Facelift w/ the tempo and ghostly vocals of self-titled.
I don't think they're explicitly trying to recreate a 90s aesthetic (though how would I know). I think these are the types of songs Jerry likes to make.
I'm down with this.

i agree this is the music Jerry likes and its safe for him to do, and even if we have a whole record left, i was expecting a departure from this sound. I dont like the producer they are working with again.

Really bad and tired song but most depressing of all is the extremely bad loudness war-situation they got going in that band right now. Everything bleeds together until all tone and dynamics are lost. I wish Steve Albini would save them ((
