I tried doing a search and came up with nothing. Has RM seriously never had a PJ Harvey thread? I've been on a major kick with her lately, going back and getting another copy of "To Bring You My Love" and taking a daily ass kicking from:

Well damn, I even posted in that one too. Oh well.

It's hard to say what to check out first, each album pretty much has it's own vibe going on. I'm partial to "Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea" myself and as mentioned earlier "To Bring You My Love". "Rid of Me" is really good but the Albini production on that one makes it a lot harder to get into. I'd say the most accessible is easily "Stories from the City..". QOTSA fans might note the desert sessions cover of "The Whore's Hustle and the Hustler's Whore" that was left off the last installment.

I love her and I think she's kind of underrated around this board. I love every album she put out (even the 4 Track Demos - they're AMAZING). Her songs are normally very simple and basic in terms of structure and chords but yet she manages to make them intense and interesting. My favorite album is probably Rid Of Me, such a brutal and powerful album.

But like I said on that thread, the best point to start is probably Stories From The City, Stories From The Sea since it's her pop album, filled with great and catchy tracks, although in my opinion it remains as one of her weakest efforts (still a great album nonetheless).

I'm pretty sure there was at least one thread about her on the old board.

I have Stories from the City... and it is pretty damn good. It is really good, actually. So I would recommend that. Her voice is totally wicked.

she does two duets with mark lanegan on bubblegum which are quite good. Hit the city especially.

Her voice and the guitar tone on "To Bring You My Love" is amazing. She is unreal and I enjoy everything she has put out. "Stories from the city..." is my fav. I don't think it is her best but i listened to it at a time in my life when it just hit me. Great stuff.

I love that song. It's currently in my top played on my ipod. Do you know what record it was a b-side or outtake from?

I agree. There's just something about "Stories from the City" that gets me every time, I always go back to it.

She's one of those artists that I've always liked what I've heard (scratch that in this case - I've always LOVED everything I've heard) and have been meaning to check out forever, but just have never gotten around to it.

I really hate her shit on Desert Sessions 9&10, but I haven't heard anything else from her.

Do it now dude. I can say with some decent certainty that you would enjoy it.

Good god, man, are you mad?! I love that album, and her stuff is easily the best. There Will Never Be a Better Time fucking raped me the first time I heard it. Hell, it still does!

You have to check her albums. I can almost garantee you'll like her stuff.

Her last record is underrated too imo. Even by her fans.

I just recently got it and haven't really got to absorb it yet. It's on the to do list though. I can't get away from her older stuff at this point.
