These guys played a festival last summer in Houston that I'm still kicking myself about missing.

And the gulf between the indie world and the Knowles family gets that much smaller. According to an interview with of Montreal leader Kevin Barnes on Stereogum, Solange is set to guest on the next of Montreal album, which will possibly be titled False Priest or The Controller Sphere. Futuristic R&B siren Janelle Monae is also lined up for the album, and Jon Brion might do some sonic polishing as well. The sound of the album is said to have a Parliament-style, 70s-funk vibe (Stereogum has an in-studio snippet of a new track with a hook that goes "your pussy is a star.")

This isn't a total surprise. Last month, Solange's big sister Beyoncé told the UK's Guardian, "My sister [Solange] has put me on to bands like of Montreal. I would love to do something like that on my next album." Commenting on the proposition, Barnes told Stereogum, "When I heard that she said that, I thought, 'Oh, I should try to get something going.' I started writing this song, and then next thing I know, it's so weird that she would never in a million years listen to it, let alone record it!" Then again, he did get Solange to sing on his record, so who knows? Think big, dude!

Skeletal Lamping reminds me a lot of Midnite Vultures
