How integral is Stone in the songwriting process here? I could be way off, but that first track sounds like it could have been a Bayleaf B-side.

you think?? i dont hear Bayleaf in those songs...maybe in some of the newer ones. He´s pretty integral, some of his best work is in those records.

Yeah, there's a definite Stone flavor to it all. It's a damn shame that Stone doesn't record more solo stuff.

I posted this at pj.com the other day, but I figure the Brad fans here will be interested, too:

This is kinda for anyone who has seen Brad before this year: the shows used to be loose, a bit choatic; they often lacked momentum and cohesion. I was listening to the audience recording of the LA show at the Troubadour from earlier this year. They're a whole different band now! Keith Lowe is the new(ish) bass player, and man, he's turned Brad into a BAND. Single handedly, that dude has turned Brad into a tight unit. They only played 6 gigs this year in the US and only 3 each week. They didn't play anywhere near enough shows to theoretically be a tight musical unit, but that show at the Troub...shit, you'd think they were in the middle of a 12 month tour. They are, without a doubt, now better live than they have EVER been. And like I say, I saw them in 1998 and 2002, and I wasn't even at the US shows this year, but this year's shows wiped the floor with the shows I've attended in the past. This isn't to insult the rest of the band, but when the other members are the same, and only one member has changed (the bass player), what or who else can you credit such a dramatic shift to?

I agree with you! I listened to some brad boots ever since 1997. But they sound f#cking great nowadays! That Keith Lowe is a badass barefooted mofo on bass.

On youtube there are some videos from their Showbox show last year,

same tour different show:

Man, looking forward to their EU tour.
