Thanks to this board and top 2008 lists, I have discovered this Scottish band a few weeks ago: their last album, The Midnight Organ Fight, is my favorite release of the year.

They have played twice in Paris in less than 10 days, opening for Death Cab for Cutie and Department of Eagles (side project of Daniel Rossen from Grizzly Bear): great energy, amazing drummer (he had an Animal muppet Tshirt tonight...), great songs with hooks and melodies (ah, Keep Yourself Warm, Head Rolls Off, the Modern Leper). Short sets each time (40 / 45 minutes) but they stole the night.
As we were leaving the venue with a friend of mine, we crossed the drummer and the bass/guitar player in the street, had a little chat and thanked them, nice evening. :nice:

There's something anthemic and cathartic in their music, and still catchy as hell.

Some of my friends are really into these guys. I have the album but haven't played it really yet.

Probably top 10 album of 2008 for me. Great stuff. You should also check out The Twilight Sad. Their album was my favorite last year.

fantastic band/album... saw them live twice this year, once at SXSW and the other here recently, which that one blew me away...

if you've not heard their last album yet do so, it's called Sings The Greys and is almost as good as this new one

I envision this being your typical "indie" girl's new favorite band in a few months time, but yeah, really really great record. It's indie rock done perfectly.

I don't find sing the greys to be nearly as good.

Nice. Thanks.

Isn't kinda weird to have a video out so far ahead of the album release?
