yeah i really like fantastic planet but then i got their other albums and i only listened to them a few times and they never really did anything for me. I just listened to magnified and its ok but nothing great. Ken andrews can be a pretty boring singer. Hes just so bland at times.

I've been a big Failure fan for a decade or more. Nothing beats Fantastic Planet. Since they broke up, I've closely followed the projects of each individual member.
On a semi-related note, ever heard ON? (Ken Andrews solo project after the breakup.)
they're alright but their music can get very monotonous, especially with the long length of fantastic planet.

ive been meaning to check out ON but never really gotten around to it. Any good? I have the year of the rabbit album which i liked. not as much as fantastic planet but it has its moments.

ON isn't bad... It's kind of hard to describe, especially in comparison to Failure. More synth, less "space rock." I dig it in certain moods, but it'll never top Failure, imo. I remember signing up on Ken Andrews' site years ago and I got the ON EP (Soluble Words) and a sticker in the mail for free.
If you're on a Ken Andrews kick, check out Blinker the Star, too (Ken produced and played some sweet guitar on the August Everywhere album). Other stuff I'd recommend is Autolux (Greg Edwards on guitar) and basically anything Troy van Leeuwen worked on (QOTSA, APC, Enemy, etc.)
thanks. ive heard of autolux i didnt realize that that was greg edwards though. if ON was a little bit easier to obtain i probably would have checked it out by now. but theres a couple of albums that i want that i have to order so ill probably get it.

Fantastic Planet is one of my ten most favorite albums. It's genius. Also check out the Replicants. Many people know it as the band Maynard covered "Silly Love Songs" with, but it's Ken Andrews and basically is a set of awesome covers with a Fantastic Planet era sound. How do you sleep?

I just put Pitiful on the latest Mystery Track, and nobody guessed it. But yeah, they are a great band. Fantastic Planet is a classic. Ken Andrews solo stuff in ON, and Year of the Rabbit is decent too, if you want more of his goodness.

I really like Fantastic Planet, and that's all I've heard.

Fantastic Planet is a masterpiece. It is pretty much perfect in every way and it is one of my top 5 albums from the 90s. ON was pretty good too - Shifting Skin is a GREAT album. Make Believe has its moments too but isn't quite as good. His solo album from 2007 is good too but I think that is the last thing he has put out. The LADNA project just doesn't look like it will ever happen.
