I definitely had higher hopes for this album than how I feel after a number of listens. To me the most interesting stuff on it are the two "out of the box" songs for this band, Oh Love and Kill The DJ. Unfortunately the lyrics are so stupid on the latter it really overshadows them trying something different (for them). I'd have to say Oh Love has turned out to be my favorite song on the album. While Kill the DJ comes off as pretty generic, Oh Love accomplishes the band trying a different sort of sound while maintaining Billie Joe's ability to write a catchy fucking song.
There are a couple songs that I just don't like because frankly, they lift the melodies from other Green Day songs. "Carpe Diem" is cool, but the verse sounds a lot like "Life Before The Lobotomy." The verse of "Rusty James" shares its melody with the beginning of Viva La Gloria.
The rest is just Green Day by the numbers without the aforementioned hooks that Green Day songs typically grab you with even with only three chords. Most bands at this stage of their careers tend to try too hard. With Uno, I don't think Green Day tried hard enough.

After hearing "Let Yourself Go" on the radio 3 times a day at work, I'm pretty sure I'd involuntarily throatcrush Billy Joe if I ever saw him.
Amidst the entire sea of pop swill, there is not a more dishonest song moment I can think of right now than "And I don't give a F-(*GUITAR CRUNCH!*) anyway!". I'm pretty sure you do give a fuck, Billy Joe. You have your managers, lawyers, publicists, and accountants to think of. Those people don't get paid by not giving fucks.

I don't know if it matters, but the guitar crunch isn't on the album.

Fell For You grew on me. That part "I'll spend the night living in denial making paper planes for a while" has a great hook to it. Best part of the song. Loss of Control is also like that. I want to hear Dos though. Already kind of over this.

It is if you go to Amazon and don't realize you're buying the edited version! And yes, they now have a version that says "edited" in their MP3 store. When I bought it the morning of release though there was no such title.

What? Are you suggesting there are two mixes of the album?
edit - oh, you just mean the lyrics have been "cleaned". I thought we were talking about guitar tone.

Complaining to amazon is very effective. If you call them you'll get the version you want.

I already bought the other version and it was only $5 so $10 total. NBD.
