The new record from Cat Power is going to be released in september, the new single is out there and its pretty good.
Its been a while since she released something with new material, so im really looking foward to this.

I've heard the single once and it didn't do much for me, but I'll still check the album out.

As previously reported, Marshall performed and produced the album herself following a difficult break up with longtime boyfriend/actor Giovanni Ribisi. “I cut my hair off three days [after the break-up], got on a plane to France, and finished the shit,” she recently told The Stool Pigeon. “It’s all good, you know. I love the person very much. I actually love this record very much, too. I’m very proud of it.”

I've been looking forward to this record for a long time, but I really hope the songs aren't tainted by the same sort of melodrama that would cause one to scalp themselves following a break-up. Chan Marshall is better than that, so I think we're safe.

I like it. The way she sings "kept goin', kept rollin'" and the piano pattern are both about as Cat Power as it comes, yet the rest of the music sounds firmly rooted in 2012.

I'm just going to relax and let it all reveal itself soon.

Cherokee is thankfully WAY better than Ruin, but sounds a lot like Beth Orton's dabble with electronics
